DIRTcar Sportsman Modified Schedule Gets Busy

CONCORD, N.C. – With the weekly racing seasons ending and track championships wrapping up, the DIRTcar Sportsman Modified schedule begins to take off in the North, Central, and Western Regions. Hundreds of DIRTcar Sportsman Modified competitors have raced hard all year in DIRTcar Northeast races in Quebec,  Western New York/Ontario, and Central New York. Teams are preparing for the packed schedule as well as two huge special events, NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week XLVII at Oswego Speedway and the DRIVEN Racing Oil World Short Track Championships in Charlotte.

First the bad news: The DIRTcar Sportsman Central Region Feature race at Land of Legends Raceway has been cancelled after two failed attempts. Both June 23 and August 29 saw heavy rains drown out any chance of holding the event. Unfortunately, the race will not be made up due to scheduling conflicts.

The next DIRTcar Sportsman Modified North Region race is on Sunday, September 2 at Cornwall Motor Speedway. They race in support of the DIRTcar 358 Modified tour stop to close out the Modified racing season at Cornwall. The West Region fires up with a triple-header September 7-9. Ransomville, Merritville, and Humperstone Speedways all host DIRTcar Sportsman specials.

Can-Am Raceway is gearing up for their Showdown in September. On September 7 the DIRTcar Sportsman Central Region is back in action as a part of the two-day event. Can-Am Raceway PR notes: “It has been a rebuilding season in 2018 at Can-Am and officials plan to close out the season in a big way with the Showdown in September sponsored by DP Bartlett and Sons. The two-day event will get started on Friday, September 7th, with the DIRTcar Sportsman, RUSH Crate Late Models, Pro Street Stocks and 4 Cylinder Thunder Stocks all having special events on the schedule. The DIRTcar Sportsman will highlight the nights racing with a 30-lap, $1250 to win DIRTcar Sportsman Modified event which should draw a number of outsiders to take on the track regulars at the fast 1/2 mile.”

While the Fall Championships are decided at the 47th annual NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week in Oswego, the DRIVEN Racing Oil World Short Track Championships at the Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway celebrates another stellar year of DIRTcar Sportsman Modified racing October 25-27.
